Happy Monday and welcome to May beautiful people! To all of my brand new subscribers, welcome to Girl,Heal! I am so happy that you all took the time to venture out in wanting to heal. To my former subscribers, I appreciate you all more than you will ever know. You’ve been with me since day one and I truly appreciate each and every one of you. To give you all an update, I took a little more than a month off to regroup myself and to gain perspective on some issues that I was dealing with in my personal life and to regain my focus. There were boundaries that needed to be set and goals to achieve and I needed the quiet time to obtain that. In some of my former posts, you all will see that I encourage you to take time to yourself, but I was not doing it as I should have been. Well, life sat me down for a second. That’s not a road I want anyone to come to. My purpose in blogging is to gain attention from you all so that you can take the necessary steps to take time to yourselves so that when life does hit you with any obstacle or hurdle, you are able to recognize it, focus and move past it, and heal. So just a recap and to make a long story short, I enlisted the assistance of a therapist. That was one of the best steps I could have taken for myself. Not to go into details, but part of my assignment from my therapist was to spend atleast an hour to myself one day out of the week to regroup and to focus. I can’t verbally express how refreshing that was for me. The time I would take to myself consisted of other things which had more of my attention so in essence I wasn’t focusing on myself like I thought I was. Now, in the black community, it was not always the first go to or something that we would commonly talk about when it came to therapy. It was oftentimes frowned upon. Now that I am in my mid-30s I see and stress the importance of talking to someone. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. No matter the your background, race or religion, I encourage you all to not only take time for yourselves as you grow daily, but don’t take fear in placing your trust with someone who will genuinely listen AND assist you with your issues to the best of their ability. Now that I am at a place where I am thinking more clearly, I am able to get back to the things I once needed and love dearly- blogging included. As May flourishes, so will you. Don’t forget to stop and smell the flowers and take in the scenery. Digest what is good and heal what is not. Enjoy this week❤️
